Research clusters and groups

As well as funded DTPs and doctoral training programmes, we also have a number of Research Clusters and groups collaborating to find solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges.

Partnerships

Neuro-Resilience Cluster

Funded by: DMU

Lead Academic: Dr Dan Sillence

“Postgraduate researchers are absolutely essential for a dynamic and exciting research environment. The team comprises of a multidisciplinary, experientially and culturally diverse, and inclusive group of scientists who have been working collaboratively to unravel the intricate mechanisms by which the natural process of ageing contributes to the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases”

The skills gained by researchers joining this research cluster include: Research skills include PCR, electrophoresis, confocal microscopy, Cell painting, mass spectrometry, lipid analysis, drosophila lab, respirometry and organic synthesis.

Applied Electromagnetics

Funded by: EPSRC

Lead Academic: Professor Alistair Duffy

We’re aiming to advance the field of Electromagnetic Compatibility through developing innovative validation techniques, applications, and standards that bridge fundamental research with industry practice while establishing a globally recognized research community at DMU. Researchers in our cluster feel empowered and supportive. Everyone works to their strengths and determines their own direction but everyone else is there for discussions and help when needed.

Creative Technologies

Funded by: Various funders

Lead Academic: Professor Tracy Harwood

Our researchers create new knowledge, synthesizing practice-based research with pioneering advances in digital computing, information technologies, creative practice, science and engineering.
